January is National Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month!

Mountain High to offer lesson specials for beginners to learn the sport

By Sponsored Content January 17, 2020
Join us this January for National Learn to Ski/Snowboard Month...because humans were never meant to hibernate.
It's the perfect time to pick up a new sport (or improve on existing mountain skills)!

Mountain High, SoCal’s closest winter resort (90 minutes from downtown LA / 2 hours from San Diego), encourages guests of all ages and abilities to hit the slopes this January. Whether through skiing or snowboarding, or through tubing, snowshoeing or – new this year to any SoCal resort, snowbiking! – there are plenty of ways to enjoy the winter weather at Mountain High.

Deals and Packages:
To help Southern Californians of all ages and abilities get acquainted with a cold-weather activity like skiing and snowboarding, Mountain High offers special lessons and packages throughout the month of January.  Bring a friend in January for midweek beginner lessons for two for the price of one (including lift tickets and rental equipment). Mountain High also offers its “123-Free” lesson package throughout the season: when participants complete three lessons – which come with rentals and lower-mountain lift tickets – they will receive a season pass to take their skills to the next level.

Potential story angles:
  • First-hand account: Interested in learning how to ski or snowboard this year? I’d be happy to set you and a guest up with group lessons, rentals and lift tickets so you can partake in Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. This could make a great, interactive story for your readers.

  • A Historic Look: Mountain High has been the location for starlets and celebrities to enjoy winter sports since the 1920s — even John Wayne frequented the slopes! We have a selection of historic photos we can provide, and a representative from Mountain High can share more historical accounts from the resort.

  • Newbies turned employees: Mountain High has a reputation of hooking guests into the sport of snowboarding and skiing — just ask its employees! Chief Marketing Officer John McColly learned to ski at Mountain High while in college, years prior to working at the resort. Similarly, Raoul Montoya grew up visiting Mountain High as a kid before joining the staff. John and Raoul can tell you why Mountain High is such a great place to learn how to ski or snowboard.
