8 Tips for Taking Care of Your Child’s Mental Health

Many parents have expressed concern over their child’s mental health. 

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Here are 8 tips for taking care of your child’s mental health during this pandemic:

1. Stay connected to people (family/friends) πŸ’— 

2. Remember the basics- get enough sleep, drink water, follow a healthy diet, exercise πŸ’¦ 

3. Create a coping toolkit of things your child enjoys doing, make them feel safe and grounded πŸ˜ƒ 

4. Stay informed but minimize exposure to media πŸ“Ί 

5. Normalize the struggles we are currently facing πŸ™ŒπŸ½

6. Give your kids grace. Keep expectations reasonable- don’t expect your kids to function as they “normally” would. πŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™€οΈ 

7. Remember your kids are watching/listening to YOU- if you are anxious, stressed, overly emotional they will be too! Take care of yourself! πŸ‘€ 

8. Reach out for mental health services; many services are provided via telehealth.  Be proactive! 🧠
