Hundreds of thousands of lights will once again reimagine the Garden -Opening November 20

G LOW (Garden Lights & Ocean Waters) opens at the Garden on November 20 for its sophomore year with a reimagined show that will yet again have visitors seeing the Garden in a brand-new light.

This year’s event will include food, drinks, music, interactive exhibits and at transformative Garden featuring hundreds of thousands of lights that will have you partying on the beach, drinking cocktails on the bayou and chasing waterfalls. A stunning kelp forest will take your breath away and spark your interest in the beauty of the sea.

“While we dipped our toes last year, we are ready to make a splash with GLOW t his year,” says Adrienne Nakashima, the Garden’s CEO. “Our Chief Operating Officer MaryLynn Mack and our friends at California Outdoor Lighting have taken the concept of Garden Lights & Ocean Waters and created an entirely new show that is better and brighter than last year, and is sure to be a delight t his holiday season.”

GLOW will feature additional Garden collections t his year, including the Lavender Garden, Koi Pond, Fuschia Garden, and Lower Meadow, adding more areas with lights than last year’s show. And while it may not be holiday inspired, there will be themed nights to encourage festive attire and to add to the fun. Details on the themed nights are below.




GLOW Themed Nights

Mardi Gras Night - December 1, 2021
This year’s GLOW features an all-new design that culminates in The Bayou. To celebrate t his amazing section of the exhibit, we’re hosting a Mardi Gras Night! Come dressed up in your favorite Mardi Gras gear and be ready to have some fun!

Ugly Christmas Sweater Night - December 8, 2021
GLOW may not be holiday-themed, but we can still celebrate the season. Wear your ugly Christmas sweaters or other festive attire to show your holiday spirit. Plus, for t his one night only, Santa may just make an appearance!

Neon Night - December 15, 2021
We’re GLOWing throughout our run, but on Neon Night, we invite you to join in! Wear neon colors or light yourself up like a neon sign for this night that celebrates our Electric Desert portion of the exhibit.

Kids’ Beach Night - January 5, 2022
The weather may not allow for a beach day right now, but with our imaginations, we can have a beach night! This kid-centric night will encourage kids, and those young at heart, to come experience GLOW.

Garden Lights and Ocean Waters Conservation Night - January 12, 2022
GLOW is unique in that we focus our exhibit on water. Plants need water to survive, and so do we! We’ll be partnering with the Aquarium of the Pacific for t his special night to raise awareness of our collective conservation efforts.

Tickets are available now.
Glow runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. daily from November 20 through January 17, 2021, with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
