MK Review by Shirley Chang (Macaroni Kid Covina-West Covina):

Every year we get a chance to visit the Queen Mary during the Holidays for the CHILL spectacular.  Year after year they bring different themes that keep us going back to see what they have to offer.  LAST YEAR we were very disappointed at the Alice in Wonderland theme.  It didn't have anything that would tie to the theme CHILL.  But, this year, we were excited just to read about the first ICE Adventure Park opening at the Queen Mary.  So, at opening day, we drove all the way to the Queen Mary on a weekday, just to check it out and have some pre-Christmas fun!  And to our surprise, it was better than we imagined.  Our whole family had a lot of fun this year.  It took us a while at the beginning to figure out where everything was and what they had to offer.  If you decide to head over to the CHILL this year, here are 10 Must Do's that would make your visit smoother and more pleasant.

1) Ice Skating around the world:

Take a spin with skates (included) on the rink and around a track that would take you for a spin around the world to China, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and the North Pole.

2) Amsterdam Ice Bumper Boats (+$5):
Take a spin on a one of a kind Ice Bumper Cars alone or with the kids.

4) Matterhorn Mountain Ice Tubing:
Ride down on a Tube (included) on a two-story ice slide.

5) Tricycling on Ice (+$5):
Glide and race through a track on a three-wheel large tricycle.

 6) Stocking Decorating (+$9):
Pick up some decorations and decorate your own stocking with the help of some of Santa's Elves.

 7) Visit Mrs. Claus for a story and Hot Chocolate:
Mrs. Claus will entertain anyone that would love to cozy up and listen to a story or two.  Pick up a Hot Chocolate at an additional cost and warm up on this nice little cabin.

8) Pictures with Santa:  It's never too late to take pictures with Santa.  Kids just love going into Santa's private home for a quick visit.

9) International Food Faire and Drinks:

Go to the CHILL and sample food and drinks from around the world.

10) Around the World nightly performances:
The performers were spectacular.  Check out the Chillettes performances and the tree lighting ceremony in Holland (Ice Skating area), the Northern Light Show on the Dome and acrobats in Russia, the Village Player in Germany (by the Rocking Horse), The Shaolin Monks Kung Fu and Lion Dance in China, and take a selfie or two with characters around the world.

General Admission includes only some of the adventures above.  Additional fees required for some of the activities.  So, check out there website to see if you would like to pay all the additional fees or just purchase an Ultimate Expedition Wristband to include everything.

For the adults, it can be fun too.  I really love that the CHILL has tailored the event to fit all ages.  If you are just planning a date night or an adults night out. It sure won't disappoint.   You can rent out aPrivate Igloo Cabana, that is fully furnished and have some drinks throughout the night with friends.  Venture out to the different bars and try out drinks around the world.  Pick up a Parka and head into the Freezing Ice Bar and have a shot or two of vodka. Or just sit by many of the Fire Pits and have a cozy time.

This year, I really recommend the CHILL.  Be there as they open so you have plenty of time to have fun, savor, and enjoy the many activities with your loved ones.  Tickets are only available til January 7th.
