☀️ Summer can be tough for kids (and parents) who rely on school meals to help them get through the day. In the wake of the Coronavirus, it is estimated that the number of kids in need has significantly risen due to the loss of income and the jump in unemployment. In order to ensure that children who rely on free or reduced-price meals at school are able to get the nutrition they need, USDA is working with states to continue providing meals to students. Usually, the rules require that children gather and eat their meals on-site but, due to the circumstances of this public health emergency and the need for social distancing, temporary changes were made so that meals may be taken home.
