What Is The Tutoring Center® All About?

Of course, the name says it already. As a national franchise, we provide tutoring services to K-12 pupils in the core academic areas of phonics, reading, writing, and math. Our students receive intense, personalized, instruction twice or three times a week, using our unique rotational approach to learning. Our records indicate that students are able to retain their skills and improve their confidence by leaps and bounds. 

Since re-opening in June for in-person sessions, we strive to continue our high-standard programs with precautionary measures put in place, such as allowing no more than two students in staggered sessions, keeping physical distancing, wearing face covering, checking body temperature, and using hand sanitizers. We are also committed to being COVID-19 compliant with the County of San Bernardino. In essence, we want to provide a safe learning environment where no one has to worry about getting one’s health compromised.

Let’s now focus on our phonics program and address the other programs in subsequent posts. Geared toward young readers from first to fourth grade, our phonics program consists of three components:

1. Structured Phonics, in a particular order:

• phonemic awareness / short and long vowel sounds / CVC blending/rhyming
• vowel digraphs/consonant blends and digraphs
• many more advanced phonics skills and spelling rules

2. Reading Skills, with a focus on:

• expanding vocabulary repertoire based on phonics rules and high-frequency words
• reading fluency and comprehension

3. Focus Improvement, using fun math drills that stress both accuracy and fluency

Of course, no program can be effective if the student is not motivated to learn. So we throw in a host of incentives to reward hard work and encourage a positive attitude toward learning. Our motto, Empowering Children to Reach Their Potential, depicts in essence what The Tutoring Center is all about: a foundational stone upon which our students can step to reach the star of their dream!
