Attention all parents and guardians of girls ages 12-18!
The 10th Annual I Matter Girls Empowerment Conference is just around the corner! Happening on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at East Los Angeles College, this free event is a must-attend for young women looking to build confidence, explore new opportunities, and develop valuable life skills. Hosted by LA County Parks, the conference will bring together over 1,500 girls from across Los Angeles County for a day packed with interactive workshops, engaging activities, and powerful discussions.
The I Matter Girls Empowerment Conference aims to help young girls navigate the challenges of adolescence while embracing their strengths and preparing for a bright future. Attendees will have the chance to participate in workshops on topics such as
- positive relationships
- career exploration
- mindfulness
- women in STEM
- environmental justice
- entrepreneurship
- and more!
New for 2024 is the Well-Being Village, where girls can take part in hands-on activities like candle making, essential oil blending, and mindfulness meditation, all designed to promote self-care and mental well-being.
One of the conference’s highlights is the Resource Fair Activation, featuring community and department partners like the Department of Mental Health, Public Health, and LA County Library. These partners will provide a wealth of resources and activities that promote well-being, creativity, and connection.
