Claremont Holiday Promenade and Tree Lighting

A charming holiday evening in the Village

November 30, 2025

The City of Claremont is getting ready to light up the season with its annual Holiday Promenade and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. This event brings families into the heart of Claremont Village for an evening filled with music, treats, and classic small town holiday charm.

The night’s big highlight is the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Depot, but there is plenty to enjoy before and after. Village shops will turn into festive Cheer Stops, offering free holiday goodies and special in-store deals. You can spot participating shops by the inflatable candy cane outside their doors and the event poster in their window. Maps of all Cheer Stops will be available at City Hall and at the City of Claremont booth at the Depot.

Entertainment fills the Village throughout the evening, including performances by Upstream, the Music Men, holiday carolers, and even a visit from Santa. Families can take a photo with Santa outside City Hall between 5 and 8 p.m., so be sure to bring a camera.

One of the most popular attractions each year is the live reindeer photo area. To help keep lines manageable, the Claremont Village Marketing Group is using an Eventbrite sign up system for reindeer photo sessions. Even with a ticket, some waiting may still happen. Families without a reservation can use the standby line. The reindeer will be available for photos from 5 to 8 p.m., with a short break from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

This event is free to attend, and the Village always feels especially cozy on this night. If you plan to go, be aware that eastbound First Street will close between Harvard Avenue and Yale Avenue from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

It is a great chance to slow down, enjoy the lights, and share a fun December evening in one of our area’s most charming spots.
